Godawan Artisanal Single Malt Whisky from Rajasthan’s Godawan Distillery has been named Spirit of the Year India and Indian Single Malt Whisky of the Year at the 2026 Bartender Spirits Awards. Both titles went to Godawan 02 Fruit & Spice, which was also the highest ranked Indian spirit across all categories at the competition. Organised by the Beverage Trade Network, the awards are judged by bartenders, bar managers and hospitality professionals. Spirits are tasted blind and assessed for aroma, flavour, balance and overall character, followed by evaluation of packaging and value.
The double win comes as Godawan crosses 125 international awards, placing it among India’s most decorated single malt whiskies. Godawan is made with locally sourced six-row barley and slow distillation, then matured in Rajasthan’s hot, dry desert climate. The extreme conditions accelerate interaction between spirit and oak, contributing to its concentrated flavour profile. The award-winning 02 Fruit & Spice combines fruit and floral notes with vanilla, sweet ginger and coconut, finishing with spice and roasted coffee. Its companion expression, 01 Rich & Rounded, offers sultana, raisin, fig and apricot notes with a smooth, buttery finish.
