Sopexa India, the Indian arm of the food and beverage marketing promotion board of France plans to conduct several engagement programmes with the hospitality industry in Mumbai over the next few months according to Hospitality Biz. It is also planning a familiarisation trip for prime Indian importers to various Chateaus in France.

Sopexa India recently conducted a French wine trail in Mumbai in association with sommelier, Magandeep Singh, to display an array of premium French wines in the country. The event featured 147 bottles of French wines from various wine producing regions of France. Singh, who is a Sommelier India contributor, also conducted a tasting of about 12 wines.
“There is a huge potential for French wines in India. The average consumption of wines in India is about nine millilitres per person, per annum. It is important to groom our consumers about France’s offerings and the quality products it has to offer. This will be our focus area for 2009,” says Tarun Sibal, Marketing Project Manager – India, Sopexa India.
