This edition of Sommelier India begins with a toast to Sula Vineyards, celebrating 25 years (p.22) as the cornerstone of India’s wine revolution. Just a few years younger, Sommelier India has chronicled Sula’s journey over the last two decades, documenting its evolution from a pioneering venture to a global name. Now, with Domaine Sula expanding to Karnataka (p.28), the brand continues to shape India’s wine culture in exciting ways.

Elsewhere, this issue is filled with stories to savour. Jug Suraiya explores Spain’s tapas tradition (p.14), tracing its roots in Barcelona’s bars and cafés. In France, Hotel Le Cep in Beaune (p.16) blends history, wine, and Michelin-starred cuisine in an experience captured by Ruma Singh. If you enjoy a challenge, V. Sanjay Kumar’s blind tasting adventure (p.18) is both insightful and entertaining.

For those with an eye on legacy, Domaine Faiveley (p.32) stands tall at 200 years, producing wines that bridge history and modern craftsmanship. Meanwhile, Champagne enthusiasts will enjoy reading about the rise of grower Champagnes (p.38), a movement reshaping the sparkling wine landscape.

From California’s hidden white wines (p.44) to Argentina’s evolving wine scene (p.54) and the timeless elegance of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore (p.60), there’s plenty to explore. If you love food pairings, don’t miss V. Sanjay Kumar’s take on wine with Indian cuisine (p.66) or Brinda Gill’s review of Aragma in Pune (p.78). And be sure to visit Farmlore restaurant in Bengaluru, recommended by Kaveri Ponnapa (p. 70).

The year ended on a high note with ProWine Mumbai 2024, a defining event for the wine and spirits industry. At its Gala dinner awards ceremony, Sommelier India was honoured for Excellence in Editorial Content, a proud moment and recognition of our commitment to wine journalism. This award reaffirms our role in fostering wine appreciation and education in India.

Here’s to another year of great wine and even better stories. Happy reading! If you haven’t subscribed, you can do so here.
