Wine writer and critic, Jeb Dunnuck is leaving his job at “The Wine Advocateâ€, the publication founded by Robert M Parker Jr, to launch his own digital publication from July 1: JebDunnuck.com. California wines will continue to be his major focus, but the publication will also cover Bordeaux, Rhône, Roussillon and Washington wines.
“It hasn’t been an easy decision,†said Dunnuck from his home in Boulder, Colorado, “but it’s something that’s been on my mind for a few years now. I’m excited to move on to the next phase.â€
Dunnuck is unhappy at the direction wine criticism has taken: “The single-voice model that was so dominant in the past in wine criticism has faded,†he says. “Everything has moved toward a brand-driven, team-based approach. There aren’t many people out there with a single voice covering multiple regions. I think that’s a shame.â€
No other critics will score wine on JebDunnuck.com, but contributions are welcome.
