India Wines and Spirits Awards moving full steam ahead

The India Wines and Spirits (IWS) Awards held a highly successful tasting competition for its 2024 edition on the 13th and 14th of August. This year, the competition received 550+ nominations and every entry was blindtasted by the jury without any disclosure of producers or labels.

Presented by the Sonal C Holland Wine and Spirit Academy in association with Vinexpo Mumbai, the IWS Award 2024 Tasting Competition was held at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. The competition had separate juries for wine, saké and spirits segments. The members of the jury selected winners across 40+ categories including wine, saké, mead, cider and spirits — whisky, vodka, rum, gin, liqueurs, agave spirits and cognac. IWS Awards founder and chairperson, Sonal C Holland, MW, led all the jury panels, which featured top alcobev professionals and hospitality leaders.

In its sixth edition now, the India Wines and Spirits Awards is the country’s largest and highly regarded blind-tasting competition. The competition expanded its scope in the 2024 edition with the addition of the spirits category and aims to create the ultimate drinking guide for Indian consumers, while also providing wine and spirits brands a chance to be assessed by India’s leading alcobev and hospitality experts.

The competition winners were announced on the 18th of September at the India Wines and Spirits Awards 2024 Winners’ Night and Gala Dinner held at the Jio World Convention Centre on the first day of Vinexpo Mumbai 2024.
